Sunniva Super Coffee

Sunniva Super Coffee is a company and product from Kingston, NY, started by three athletic brothers. Sunniva is a coffee drink created from Columbian coffee that is blended with 10 grams of lactose free protien and coconut oils.

Currently, in terms of flavors, Sunniva has Maple hazelnut, dark mocha, unsweetend blackroot, and their biggest seller vanilla bean. In addition to the protien, they have also added a "little" organic maple syrup for sweentess and "organic" stevia. Every drink contains less than 7 grams of sugar.

One bottle of Sunniva retails for $3.29, wholesales for $1.85, and costs $1.05 to manufacture. The entrepreneurs say that this is competitive with other drinks in the "enhanced" category that retail for between $4.99 and $7.99.

The product has only been in stores for eighteen months but the entrepreneurs say that they have already earned $600,000 in sales. Sunniva has a national deal with Compass Group to distribute their beverage into Whole Foods, Wegman's, Wawa stores, and cafeterias. The entrepreneurs say that just in the year so far, Sunniva has earned $400,000 through this deal and just 150 customer accounts. They project earning $2,100,000 by the end of the year.[1]

Unfortunately for Sunniva and the brothers, 95% of the "RTD" (ready to drink) space is dominated by Starbucks, something guest shark Rohan knows well and they are unable to secure a deal for their company.

Notes

  1. 1.0 1.1 The entrepreneurs originally projected out $2,100,000 by the end of the year. However, as is discovered toward the end of the pitch, this number depends on whether they can add another sales representative. If they cannot, Sunniva projects earning just $800,000 by the end of the year.
